Yeah, it came with a nest mate. The only thing is I accidentally dropped the plug into the mini hearth, as you can see in the photo. Also sometimes when I fill it up, it floods after a couple minutes. I’m not sure why?

Yeah, the flooding is normal. The Type II and III is great. It "breathes" well. It also absorbs water, which is my theory on why so many species do well in them. A lot of formicarium these days are nice and pretty but are made of acrylic/3d printed abs/epoxy that doesn't simulate the natural environment. I've never asked him what material it is, so have no idea what it is made of. It feels like a form of hydrostone or fired pottery?
And yeah haha, saw the plug. Take it out and setup the nestmate as a water feeder. It's an ingenious idea. Here's tutorial:

I have a C. chromaiodes colony in on with almost 300 workers and 700 brood. Mine is type one with the top chambers though.Wow those mini hearths are a lot bigger than I thought. Great pictures!! Definitely going to get one of these for camponotus now.
