Hello, I am from San Diego, and I was wondering if there is anywhere around me where I should look for queens. Anything but those argentines haha. Also, please give me as many tips as possible, as I have not attempted to do this in the past. Thanks! :)

The trick is persistence. Just keep your eyes peeled and you will eventually find one.

Research the native species around you. Find an ant that looks good to you, and find when it flies and what habitats it lives in. Then, visit said habitats during their flight season.

If that doesn't work, there are also quite a few GAN Farmers in California.

Hahaha, those are indeed nice tips. It would also be nice to have some data on San Diego!

Last time I visited San Diego, I wasn't into ants. If I go again, I'll make sure to note some species I see there.

Gotcha. Thing is, I have another aspiring myrmecologist who wants a queen for his birthday, and I can't seem to find a seller over here, or even any queens flying around here either, so I'm a bit rushed haha.

If you can't find a queen, maybe for his birthday invite him on a queen-hunting trip?

It violates the terms of service apparently  maybe try again or DM it to me? I caught 8 Pogonomyrmex spp in lakeside, and S. Molesta all the way at Lake Hodges. It’s ant time, for sure. Maybe we could meet up? Seems as if your a San Diegan as well.

I think the post that you are replying to is from a time when Vendayn had his account messed with.
