Fairly certain that's a queen, but can we get a closer look at the thorax? If there are wing scars, It's a queen. And that species is semi-claustral, so you will need to feed her.

I can't say with 100% certainty, but I'm fairly sure that's a queen.

100% that's a queen. The thorax is way too fat for a worker. Trust me, I have experience with identifying ponerines ;P

I see a flat mesonotum taking over the pronotum. in 99% of the cases that indicate a queen.

This is very possibly a Rhytidoponera metallica queen, although we won't know for sure without better lighting and clearer photos.

Looks like an interesting species to keep. Maybe start a journal?

The word green is sort of the give away, I second Rhytidoponera metallica.

Proverbs 6:6-8 New International Version (NIV)

Go to the ant, you sluggard;
    consider its ways and be wise!
It has no commander,
    no overseer or ruler,
yet it stores its provisions in summer
    and gathers its food at harvest.

To start a journal you can make a new topic in the ant-keeping journals sub-forum and title it something along the lines of "kyloren's Rhydontoponera Mettalica [queen/colony]" and the purpose of it is to entertain readers and/or give a detailed "guide" on how to care for these ants from an anecdotal experience in raising that specific colony of _____ species in your case, Rhydontoponera Mettalica.

;)

EDIT: and to log what the actions were before the colonies demise for other users to not make the same "mistake" you [did] and for you to see what [could have] went wrong so next time you will not make the same mistake.

okay i found a green ant nest in my backyard today and “fished” for some i got maybe 30? bc i wanted to compare them to the one i already have in the test tube and the test tube one seems like she’s slightly bigger but otherwise they all pretty much look the same? if she is a queen and i put her in with all these new ones will they accept her or kill her? or is she just a worker

She is definitely a queen, but it would be best to let her found her own colony. Make sure to feed her, as Ponerine ants are semi-claustral.
