People on this forum don't take the concept of shipping ants very lightly to say the least, it is actually in the Rules, but since shipping is legal in Canada, as long as you are not shipping out of the country, I think you should be fine.

I'm here to learn, mostly.

:hi:

I guess I should clarify that yes in Canada it is legal to ship ants and I can not ship out of country. That being said currently I only deliver locally and to Vancouver as I have yet to find a safe way to ship colonies with water in the tubes and don't like to take the risk or stress of moving them to a dry tube. I do travel to Vancouver on occasion and hence can deliver in person to the mainland.

They were identified by people with more knowledge then me on the subject, but one can not be sure without DNA testing. From what I was able to determine it is very hard to tell them apart and in some locations the species may cross making it harder. Most recent info suggests both species currently live in Victoria. As a result elevation is one of the best ways of telling appart apparently suggesting it is C. pennsylvanicus, but unless I had both species side by side I can no be sure. I also have some that have darker legs(black) vs others which have more red legs so I may have both as some articles say this is a way to tell apart.

It seems like there's a concentration of C. pennsylvanicus near north western WA and Victoria. In my experience C. modoc nearly always has red legs, at least the variants down the west coast. I think you may have both as they roughly fly near the same time as well.
