I am working with my friend who is a aspiring programmer to make an ant keeping app. The app has many features. Here is a list of features.

groups: join others' groups and stay in touch with their ant keeping experience
group chat: talk to people you choose to follow
Global message board: get updates and polls to improve the app also participate in contests
what's flying nearby: a list of the nuptial flights going on in your area
online shop: buy merchandise store tokens
- Merch shop: buy formacariums, ant gear, and merchandise
leaderboard: every month, year, and week, gain different levels of tokens genus=>universal=>merchandise
photo board: post photos, get likes, and get genus tokens
possible market place: organize adoption and sales of ant colonies
identification database: photos of possible queens are identified for species and genus the identifier earns tokens.

I will keep you guys posted on when this app is coming out and if any other features are added.
but be ready, it may be ready in spring 2017.

I knew as soon as I seen your username, you where going to be doing something like this. How did I know? Oh, just a hunch.

Anyways, this is one of those things that could end up flopping and heading south or being really convenient. I guess we will just have to see the final product.

We currently are working on a website that explains how the app works it will be released soon. I forgot to mention ranks will possibly be added to the app depending on popularity.

So you are making a nuptial flight finder... yet mine is practically done..? Maybe we can work together and can integrate what I already have? Is the app going to be free? cost money? Why would someone want to use this instead of say... these forums and the already setup discord?

Here's my idea on a rank system, integrated with the coin thing. Please consider!

Also, I think that coins can be traded in for ant equipment. Certain ones (such as cryptic ant and Iridomyrmex) are worth more than others (such as Tetramorium and Lasius)

Rank 1: Fully claustral
Awarded when: Joining the forum

Rank 2: Semi claustral

Awarded when: Posted five times

Rank 3: Tetramorium

Awarded when: Posted thirty times

Rank 4: Lasius
Awarded when: Posted 100 times

Rank 5: Solenopsis

Awarded when: Posted 120 times

Beginner Ant Milestone Received with Rank 5, receives random coin.

Rank 6: Camponotus

Awarded when: Posted 150 times

Rank 7: Formica

Awarded when: Posted 170 times

Brood Eater Sub-Milestone received with Rank 7, receives common coin

Rank 8: Pogonomyrmex

Awarded when: Posted 190 times

Sub-Rank 1: Odontomachus

Awarded when: Posted 200 times & received 20 or more likes

Large Ants Milestone received with Rank 8, receives random rarer coin

Rank 9: Ponera

Awarded when: Posted 200 times

Rank 10: Stigmatomma

Awarded when: Posted 210 times

Sub-Rank 2: Ambylopone

Awarded when: Posted 210 times & received 50 or more likes

Rank 11: Strumigenys

Awarded when: Posted 250 times

Cryptic Milestone received with Rank 11, receives random rarer coin

and so on.

Also, is it possible to become an administrator on this app's servers? I've always wanted to become one and help make positive changes.

That would work except the ranks would be by coins, not posts, because anyone can post but it's the amount of likes you get that helps increase your rank

I'm also including Special backer ranks for when we put this on indegogo

Pretty simple, uses results from antweb.org to get location of species, then compares it to the list of flights on docs that Drew put together. Also if you are putting it on Indiegogo, means you want money. I don't see it happening personally. Also if you expect to make money, and not be a free resource, then you won't get off the ground, I'm afraid. You provide little and (from what you have said so far) expect a lot. I highly suggest you move your resources and time elsewhere.
