Also Mantis are cool but not parental like the shrimp

Thanks, but if I remember correctly Mantis Shrimps don't exhibit much parental care other than carrying the eggs around. I actually had several mantis shrimp species in the past (I used to live in Hawaii, and this one species was very common in my local beach). Also, they aren't insects.

Wouldn't all insects just be true neutral, or neutral evil since they're all hyper focused on their survival?

From what I've read is that communities of Passalid beetles even go as far as "Babysitting" for other parents. And even when the larva pupate, their parents build a case around them from wood

Yeah that's true. I have a 9 beetle colony in a small deli cup but since I have a really limited supply of wood, I don't think they're going to breed YET. If I manage to get some more dead wood I'll put them in my 10 gallin tank and hopefully they'll breed. Also, does anybody know if the adults or larvae will eat dog food? If so, can yhis increase speed of growth or adult size?
