Hi.

I have had a tiny colony of Lasius claviger for about a month and a half now (one queen and two Lasius flavus workers). I was 90% sure that the colony would fail (there was never any trophallaxis). The colony had two Lasius flavus pupae and one Lasius claviger egg. I had kind of gotten sick of the colony because of how stressed it was, so I put an ample amount of honey inside the tube and let it sit in a cabinet. When I checked on it today, though there was one more pupae and four eggs! I'm guessing that the new pupa was a Lasius claviger pupa.  Does anyone know how to care for this species once it gets workers? Will I need to make a planted terrarium for root aphids?
Thanks!

Hmm I'm no expert but try asking BatSpiderFish he seems to have the best experience with them.

Go to the ant, you sluggard;
    consider its ways and be wise!
It has no commander,
    no overseer or ruler,
yet it stores its provisions in summer
    and gathers its food at harvest.
