Been putting this one off. She was caught last month and now has pupae in silk cocoons. Sorry about the low quality pictures, and thanks in advance!

 

1. Location of collection: Glamis, California

2. Date of collection: 8/22/2017

3. Habitat of collection: Desert with shrubs

4. Length (from head to gaster): 9-10mm

5. Color, hue, pattern and texture: Black and red all over. Shiny as far as I can tell.

6. Distinguishing characteristics: N/A

7. Distinguishing behavior: Flew to a blacklight setup and was the only one of the species that showed up. Quick to lay eggs and now has cocoons about a month later.

8. Nest description: N/A

Thanks! Is it impossible to pin it down to species within the genus, kind of like Crematogaster?

Probably so at this point, however there are not that many options.

A dorsal view would help, but it looks like a sanguinea, pergandei, or some other related genera...
