Location: Northern Orlando area

Date: late June to early July

Habitat: shaded garden next to open grassy lawn (caught on top of a brick wall)

Length: 9mm

Color, hue, pattern and texture: black, and very shiny

Distinguishing characteristics: pointed gaster, heart shaped worker gasters
Distinguishing behavior: workers will do anything for sugar, even carry off whole sugar crystals
Nest description: satellite nests in cracks and spaces between objects, but can't find the main nest anywhere
