Need an ID on these dark, black queens found in the middle of the desert at around 12am. Thanks!

1. Location of collection: 29 Palms, California
2. Date of collection: 7/19/2017
3. Habitat of collection: Desert with shrubs
4. Length (from head to gaster): 7-8mm
5. Color, hue, pattern and texture: Almost all black. Picture makes her look more brown than she really is. Velvety texture on gaster.
6. Distinguishing characteristics: N/A
7. Distinguishing behavior: Found a couple of these. Some were digging and some were just walking around at midnight. They are pretty calm in my opinion.
8. Nest description: N/A

Bigger in what way? Over all size or just the gaster?

Overall size. This one is 7-8mm compared to the earlier one that was 5-6mm.
