Today is a proud day for me. I have my first nanitic from a camponotus noveboracensis queen. Took only five weeks! Being my first ever nanitic to observe, I have a few questions. Firstly, it seemed almost gimpy (this morning) and even now several hours later, although a bit more mobile. i wasn't expecting it to be so still. Perhaps it's just giving its exoskeleton a chance to strengthen. Normal do you think? The nanitic is being being stepped on a bit here and there but i guess that's normal for ants. It's close quarters in there.

Sincerely,

Canadant

Yeah, the first few days, they don't do much. Just kind of hang out.

Thanks for the reply. He's a bit more mobile now. More stretched out.

Yep, totally normal - I think it takes roughly one week before the exoskeleton has fully hardened.

They chill unless you bother them a crap ton and then they will get stressed and be guarding the entrance and stuff
