This looks like a very dark colored Solenopsis molesta queen. Nice catch.

1. Location of collection: Grand Junction, CO

2. Date of collection: 7/16/17 around 8:30 PM
3. Habitat of collection: My back porch, all gravel nearby, no grassy areas.
4. Length: 5MM
5. Coloration, hue, pattern and texture: Black/Brownish head and body with orange stripped gaster.
6. Distinguishing characteristics: Gaster seems very large for the size of the rest of the body.
7. Anything else distinctive: Does not have any noticeable bumps or spikes.
8. Nest description: Didn't see any nests.

Really? I kinda wrote that idea off based on color as I've seen several of them but they are all very light orange/yellow. Thanks for the ID!
