There was a great thread all about breeding feeders. It had the methods for numerous different species. I am not sure if it was on here or on the yuku forums.

It was on yuku: http://antfarm.yuku....=1#.VEXE7xb4L4Q

I personally keep mealworms and flightless fruit flies.

Fruit flies are great for anyone who hasn't read that one thread yet, I keep both species of flightless fruit fly with usually no issues.

I'm trying to breed these right now: Superworms, mealworms, waxworms, I gave up on crickets (difficulties with the virus), Fruit flies seems like a good idea but they don't seem very appetizing. I was thinking about breeding earwigs! Maybe breeding some other things possibly (do you think earwigs is a good idea?)

Earwigs are considered predators, and may harm or eat your ants.

Fruit flies, even though you may thing of the cultures being stinky, are actually no that bad. I keep mine right next to an open window and have never even slightly had a problem with smell. It is worth it too, the ants love them.

Here are some of my ants feeding on them. :)

Spoiler

Put it in a spoiler to avoid a massively large post full of embedded videos. :D

Wow, even the Crematogaster queen seemed to like them and I seen them at the store before they looked a lot smaller than you just showed me. I know there are plenty of videos out there but can you tell me a tutorial on breeding them. I'm still going to look up other videos though...

Unless you kill them first. Muahahaha.

When I first started keeping ants I used earwigs because the neighborhood I was living in had an abundance of them if you even just stepped outside on the sidewalk. The problem is I had to kill them myself and break them up. The act of chopping them up while they are still alive was actually more than I can stomach. They kept squirming and I couldn't help but feel a pang of empathy for them. Though I guess in hindsight now, I could have just froze them.

At least with fruit flies I can throw them in whole and let nature take its course 8).

Also mosquitoes. I have no problem killing mosquitoes. In fact I derive a sort of sick pleasure watching them squirm. THAT'S WHAT YOU GET YOU DARN PESKY MOSQUITOES.
