Is it normal for your Camponotus sp. to not want anything to do with their first outword? They have four workers, and two more are on the way. I'm worried they're going to starve.

They might come out only at night, and be so few in number that you can't tell if they ate any of the food.

It can be exceptionally hard to actually catch young colonies in the act. That seems to be pretty normal, yes.

Try denying them sugar water for 3-4 days, then place some in their outworld. If their gasters distend, you'll know they're foraging fine.

That could be possible. I don't offer them sugar water yet, I only have water, honey, a roach, and oranges for them so far.
