This was one of my first pet choices, but I never got one, but I realized that now I can. I want to get them as larvae, but I don't know how to make the substrate...I got some not-fully decaying wood and began grinding it with a cheese ggrater. After that, i tossed in some chunks of almost-decayed wood and poured in boiling water. I drained it and it is now waiting to dry. Should I be doing something else? Am I doing something wrong?

Proverbs 6:6-8 New International Version (NIV)

Go to the ant, you sluggard;
    consider its ways and be wise!
It has no commander,
    no overseer or ruler,
yet it stores its provisions in summer
    and gathers its food at harvest.
