Hello everybody!

Today I stumbled upon a nuptial flight of some kind of Lasius sp.

I can't ID it by myself, but I can say for sure the next to the place I found her there are a lot of L. emarginatus nests. I didn't find any other Lasius species other than L. fuliginosus, but their queens are very different.

The temperature was about 32°C and there was a light wind. It's been sunny and hot all the week.

I captured the queen at 11 am and there were many more running around on the floor.

All of them were very active. They can run really fast.

The queen's around 9mm long.
