Collecting queens and colonies in Europe

Does anyone know the legal implications of collecting dealate queens and small colonies from France and returning them to the UK? I asked as I was thinking of going on a trip to France to look for some queens/colonies. Are any species protected in France? I can find no info online about this. I can buy colonies online from French sellers but can I actively go and look, fetch them myself?

Species kept; Lasius Niger, Flavus, Brunneus, Emarginatus, Umbratus, Formica Fusca, Sanguinea, Rufibarbis, Camponotus Ligniperdus, Myrmica Rubra

I think so, I live in America so not sure of European laws but I'm pretty sure you guys are allowed to do this freely, I would check nonetheless.

The law may have changed with BREXIT. I would look up if it is legal in your country's laws.

France is no problem you don't need a permit (except within national) parks in order to collect ants. Theskepticalmoth writes the same:

FRANCE: No permits required, except within National Parks. France is very collector friendly, but as in many countries there are protected species to carefully avoid. (Thanks to Opequin for this info).

The UK is still in the EU so it's no problem to import the ants.

Yes I think it is EU law, be glad Le Pen wasnt elected...

Anting in Europe would be so easy! I heard they can buy queen ants online and have no restrictions transporting them around.... I might have to move there one day

That is true, we can buy ants online and have them transported without problems, no restrictions or law or anything about that really.
