Update 1-17-2016

The queen left behind from the colony that almost completely died out has now died also. All I have left now is one newer queen that doesn't have any brood.

I did some reading up into Temnothorax not too long. What was the temperature you were keeping them at? There is one species at least, of Temnothorax (I think its this one) that need it cooler and not warm/hot. Then the other species of Temnothorax, temperature is not so much a requirement I guess.

Then again it could be other reasons they died on you, but I know I read about at least one Temnothorax species not liking the heat.

They were always kept 85F and above.

Ah, that could be the reason then. From reading up on them, they aren't an ant species/genus that likes it hot.

They were a healthy colony for over a year and suddenly all died, so I doubt it was related to any heat.

Update 1-30-2016

The last queen died. Hopefully I find more of these this coming season; we don't have very many larger species of Temnothorax here.
