Chilobrachys? If it's a chilobrachys andersoni you better have fast hands haha.

the little guy has molted and is now accepting food again, i think he is almost mature

Wow...that is a lot of molts...I thought that tarantulas molted every month or so

haha, this is the first time i have managed to keep a tarantula for so long so i don't know

I feed my T's some chicken the other day it was rather funny to see, I gave one and only one some steak she enjoyed it  :D .

If you wish to open up the skin without breaking it, just use steam from your kettle or use a small container adding moisture from a spray bottle also a quick note when your tarantula moults make sure the soil is a little damp, humidity helps the tarantula to moult more easily....without losing a leg or in a worse case becoming trapping within the exoskeleton...yes it would die.

 

Hope you don't mind if I show you some close ups from my P regalis on your journal.

 

You can see her claws here, this is how a tarantula captures it's prey or for climbing.

 

Of course some nice 1 inch fangs, I love the black gloss effect.

 

Carapace or Cephalo-thorax. Tarantulas can't see very well only dark images.

After his previous molt, his level of aggressiveness has sky-rocketed he will now give you the warning pose but will not hesitate to attack the intruder/opponent while slowly backing into his burrow  :D 

 

 

 

Anyhow, he/she will always be daddy's boy/girl (i,m the daddy)

Nothing to report for the tarantula, a new member is introduced (drum-roll please....) a tiny trapdoor spider found in a log, the journal is still focused on the tarantula but I will post updates on the trapdoor spider every now and then.

I fed the tarantula a mealworm yesterday, now its in its burrow not coming out, oh well

(old skin)

 

the little box is still doing well for the tarantula and has a diversity of little critters, I wasn't able to see the spider when I was taking the pictures.

 

The dirt box is the setup for the trapdoor spider, can you find it's trapdoor???  ;)
