Apparently, an albino cobra got out of where it was being kept illegally in Thousand Oaks, CA- about 20 minutes from me. 

See? This is pretty bad. Imagine having like some exotic nomadic species of ant, and they get out. Not only will they wreck the ecosystem, but the scare that would happen in the community would be awful. The entire neighborhood this happened in is on high watch... It takes one idiot to bring in a species that isn't supposed to be there. (Not that this is capable of reproducing or anything) It has happened countless times, and a lot of times with ants. Linepithema humile, Solenopsis invicta, Pheidole megacephala, just to name a few.

It would make anting a little more exciting knowing you gotta watch out for Cobras as well as Rattlesnakes.

Definitely, the reason I put this up as an example is because they suspect it was being kept there commercially, not as a private pet, Just as most invasive ant species are introduced.

I don't know how, but today they found and caught the cobra. It will have its new home at the LA Zoo.
