This is my largest Camponotus pennsylvanicus colony I currently own. The colony was found on 2/20/17 and at that time the queen was still very much hibernating. But as of 2 days ago she is more or less awake and is moving around the nest by herself. These girls are very camera friendly and they don't seem to mind light at all. That could be due to them still fully waking up though. They are very active in the outworld and have been having no issue killing live prey. I'm assuming these girls are about 1.5 - 2 years old and I'm hoping to see a couple super majors by then end of the year.

small update: the population is about to double in this nest. it seems like the colony has both adapted and exploded even though it was a wild caught ~2 year old colony. the are VERY aggressive to live prey. most likely due to them being from the wild. i also added some old medium from my fish tank. yes it was cleaned and sanitized. they seem to enjoy moving the small rocks and crushed coral around and adapting the outworld to what they want.

Update: these girls finally had the population explosion i've been waiting for. They still don't have any super majors but the population is roughly 50/50 in terms of workers/majors.
