I can imagine not for a long time, and expensive. The reason it will probably take a while is:

1: Must be confirmed fertile before you can sell it, so it needs to basically get its first worker,

2: He barely has enough fungus for a few of his, so it will take time to grow enough to sell with the queens.

Give it some time, anting requires a lot of patience...

I have no idea how fast the colony growth is. As for food, they grow their own food (the fungus). You just provide plenty substrate (leaves, fish pellets, flower petals), and they will use what they need for their garden. This is my first time ever starting a colony of these, and there are not very many other people out there who have either. There is not a lot of information out there on this species. A lot of what I learned, I learned from this guy's journal (http://antfarm.yuku....rmex-versicolor).

Even though Drew is like the master of Southern California ants, he can't provide everything just like that.  :D

But really you have to get at least some of the information on your own, and not always rely on others...

I'm scared of rattle snakes, heights, ground  nesting wasps, and mountain lions on the trails and stuff.

sorry .-. it means they are dominant, and aggresive to humans and other animals. One yellow jacket can drop a squad of honey bees. meaning they can beat them when outnumbered

they are basically OP=over powered
