Heating mat to move colony?

I'm thinking of using a 2-watt heating mat to move the colony from the test tube into the formicarium.

 

How should I go about it?

Will it get too hot?

Do you recommend using light instead?

If so, should I use an incandescent bulb or an LED light?

It's a Messor barbarus colony and there's about 20 of them.

It's a Messor barbarus colony and there's about 20 of them.

 

What formicarium are you moving them into? I find that to get such a small colony to move is normally really difficult. 


Currently Keeping:
Trachymyrmex septentrionalis

Pheidole pilifera

Forelius sp. (Monogynous, bicolored) "Midwestern Forelius"
Crematogaster cerasi

Pheidole bicarinata

Aphaenogaster rudis

Camponotus chromaiodes

Formica sp. (microgena species)

Nylanderia cf. arenivega

What formicarium are you moving them into? I find that to get such a small colony to move is normally really difficult. 

 

 

It's an Omni Nest Large but I've blocked out the access to the other chambers so that they'd only be able to access 3 chambers for now.
