Honestly, I don't think I have met anybody from Nevada here, but check the member map and see if you can find anything. :)

I don't really now much about Ants in Nevada, it might be too late. However I don't now when nuptial flights take place in Neveda. Do some research to see when nuptial flights take place in your area?

I can dig around for you on other forums i go to and see if their is any other Nevada ant people their if you want?

You bet I will look around, however that queen you got there? You took her out of a colony? She is probably infertile since she still has her wings and she is definetly infertile if you took her from a mature colony, so she probably never mated.

I caught her from a mature colony, she was going in and out of the colony. So i guess she hasn't mated yet.

What should i do with her?

  • LocationElko, NV

I live in the Elko area, and for the most part nuptial flights are over up here in the northern part. I did see a colony of Pogonomyrmex occidentalis last week that was acting like it was going to fly, but I am sure it got knocked down by afternoon showers. Unfortunately, I am new to the hobby so I only have 1 queen who hasn't started producing yet, I believe because she is going into hibernation. I also have not seen anybody selling queens in our state. Sorry about the lack of help, but Spring will come and with it lots of queens (hopefully). Nevada has a very large diversity of ant species.

Just might as well throw her out your door, she is for sure infertile. Sorry :(
