I see them do weird things to brood all the time. Sometimes it looks like they are even eating them. I wouldn't worry about it, unless they continue to do it to every single one, and the colony stops growing.

Like I said, they are always doing strange things that don't make sense to us. There might be something wrong with the brood they are killing. I would just let them do their thing and wait for new brood to be produced. Pretty much every colony I have ever had produced a LOT.

Well, they stopped killing the pupae and larvae. Dunno why they did that, but Drew was right, it was just a strange occurrence. Maybe the pupae there was something wrong with them. I just got really worried is all, since never saw that before and it was half their brood.

The brood probably got damaged in transport from Drew to you.

Think about that civil war one of my colonies had a while back. There were ant body parts EVERYWHERE, and they bounced right back in two months. I have disturbed the hell out of them, and my other colonies since then, and have never seen another thing like that. It's really hard to know what is going through their little brains.

i moved the fungus out of the test tube into an acrylic box with just a moist cotton ball inside and the fungus seems to be growing fine. the container only has 1 hole on the bottom and it's capped at the top.

they seriously like dried rose petals.
