I thought I would build this to see if it might work. It's 2 top and bottom acrylic halfs. I drilled some holes and added some soil on top. The bottom has the 65% RH beads. I have sanitized soil and used distilled water. I first want to see if any mold will devolp, and second, see how long the soil will stay moist. The halfs are a little large 3 inches, but I also have them 2 inches. My idea is you could pour grout in there, hole saw fire brick, and a little carving, soil, sand what ever you want to do. I still have to drill a hole on the side for a way to move them, and a small hole on the bottom to add water, but this is just to test a therory. Find a better way then test tubes I hope. Any ideas or suggestions are always appreciated. Cheers

Almost any setup that is humid and allows the queen to get a drink will work for most species.

Here are some other founding setups - http://www.formicult...ounding-queens/
