I've got the colony with about 50 workers. It's the first colony I had. I was really happy getting into myrmecology!

I was not the only one to be curious about ants, my cat was interested too. The nest was placed on the radiator. One day my cat, stretching on the radiator, brought down the nest on the ground. Fortunately I was able to act quickly to prevent ants from escaping. But the plexiglass was completely cracked. So I had to move my ants to a new nest.

I've bought a bag of birdseeds which contains:

  • white millet
  • yellow millet
  • oatmeal
  • red millet
  • "Millade" and "Niger" (don't even know what is, and I didn't find any english translations)

And I've harvested dandelion seeds, because they really like those seeds.

I've just done a graph to see how fast a colony evolves. It might be interesting to have the graphics from other members! I take notes on the population of my colonies regularly to make more graph.

That's a cool idea, I might have to do that myself.

A nice colony. I have only a Queen and a few eggs or larvae at the moment.
I like your cylindric nests. I Hope my colony evolves as well.

Thanks!

I hope so for you. The beginning is a bit slow, but then it goes faster and faster. I have about 150-200 eggs now in the brood.

Few news about this colony:

They now have two nests connected, the new one is now full of ants and they transported only larvea in this one.

The brood is always bigger.

The nests are made out of "reconstituted stone". Don't know more, I bought them.
