Today I found a Solenopsis colony that was had there alates out but they had there wings torn up not off because the wings are there but the parts of it are missing so I can gess that they can't fly. I believe that these queen might be fertal if not then they might inbreed. I've read in the ant farm yuku forum that it was achieved or close to it didn't read the rest but I can speculate. At the mean time I will try to collect more from the same colony. Ow for my question, have any of you guys or girls have any experience with Solenopsis sp.? Also how can you tell the deference between Solenopsis invica and Solenopsis xylonI?

S. invicta is usually very dark red and not much contrast between the gaster and the rest of the ant. S. xyloni is orangish red with a dark red, almost black gaster.

The gasters of S. invicta are dark red, almost black, and so is the rest of their body.
