Ok, I was asked to look into this investment by my brother.

Originally, anything that looks this good is usually a scam, but the more I look, the more authentic it becomes.

http://www.bamburain.com/

My Dad was down in Mexico this spring and got to go to the office and get a tour of one of the bamboo fields.  So there is an office, buildings, fields, bamboo, and employees.

Supposedly they are registered with CONAFOR and SEMARNAT.  These groups ask me to call, and I do not speak Spanish (I can google translate for email, but I can't speak Spanish).

The owner has a seat on the New York Stock Exchange.

Supposedly most of the money comes from their plans to turn the bamboo into pharmacy grade charcoal, carbon credits, and a clothing line they have.  They managed to get a bamboo strain with less "hollow" space inside the bamboo. Not to mention how fast bamboo grows in coastal Mexico.

Takes 15 years before you really start seeing the money back, although small amounts start coming back in the 5th year.

I crunched the numbers and it is coming out to each bamboo tree making $52 a year

(Breakdown for each individual plot (33 trees): $1964 - 12% fees = $1728 profit  ($52 per tree))

This number crunching came before Bamburain decided that it is going to increase each plot's tree count from 33 to 120 just to ensure they can give the money they promise (for no extra charge).

The unit price has gone up since I did the numbers, and is supposed to really go up shortly.

I cannot actually see anything that would point out a problem, and I am now quite interested myself.

Can anyone else spot a problem with this investment?

I understand a little about bamboo in Mexico, since I developed a product that used bamboo charcoal as a fuel source.  These farmers do not need individual backers—the investment is already there.  Why do you think they need your money?

Credit card?  I read they only accepted paypal.

Any other info?  Sounds like you know much more about bamboo than I do.  Is bamboo capable of making that much money?

found this on other sites....remember, if it is too good to be true, RUN    Please note, the fact that the owner has claimed he is  on the NY stock exchange does not make it true. He also claimed this while running Landbankers 101 (and other names this same business scam went by). He also claimed it was going to be on the Mexican Bolsa, but that never happened either, and their was never any application.  Buyer beware, you will never see a return on your investment.

This company was also known as Landbankers 101, Sierra Madre Holdings etc, etc. They sold shares in land and also stated they would be on the Mexican Bolsa trading company shares. They have been charged in Canada with Securities violations and found guilty but will never pay the fine nor re-enter Canada to be held accountable. Brian Wolf is also wanted on a warrant. When purchasing these land shares people were told they could have their money back "at any time, upon request". This has never happened, except to a few people with minor funds invested. They continually state the land has to be sold. They don't own the land, they never did. This was a scam, and so is this newest plan to sell bamboo. Beware

So true...it is all a scam. Recently I was told that the bamboo will be sold in December, and from that sale people involved in share of the landbanking "investment" will get paid. Doesn't that sound wonderful???? However, what about the people that invested in the bamboo scam? One person that is/was involved in the land banking scam, and was the CEO at one time, Alan Hemingway has returned to Canada. He thinks he is untouchable, and returned to Comox, BC. However, he is apparently wanted in Mexico on tax fraud, and other charges so it is hard to know where he thinks he is the safest. All of the people involved are/were scam artists, they have managed t get away with this for far too long.
