I was outside and saw a "golden" queen run past me tried 2 grab her and then realized i had nothing 2 put her in, looked around found nothing & then last time i saw her she was going under my deck (it has spiders under it, i hate spiders!) long story short we all need to be ready for the possibility of finding queens when we are not ready, so take some extra time before leaving the house and grab some stuff to keep queens in just in case....

I've actually been considering just keeping a test tube with me always... fits right in my pocket...

That would make for an awkward conversation if one would notice.

Almost as awkward as when your friends and family notice you have syringes laying around your work area and ask you why.

This happened...

Also, I use pill bottles when I'm out collecting ants. I just know someone is going to think I'm peddling prescription drugs XP

I keep small pieces of vinyl tubing in my purse.  I have cotton plugs on each end of the tube.

I find most of my queens on my driveways and have a container handy by it.

I also have a small container in my dog's doo doo bag holder for any queens we find on walks.

Or if I find more than one, I stick the queen in a clean doo doo bag.  :D

I keep a collection vial in my back pack or pocket when I walk to and from work/school. I typically don't collect queen for the purpose of keeping them but rather for identification purposes. Still handy to have something to keep them in, just in case one turns up.

Find a small plastic one - It's not fun when you bend down and break a glass tube.

I have a few containers in all my bags and pockets. Never know where a queen or some ant you've never seen before might show up.

Has anyone considered a pill fob before?  The ones you can put on a keychain?
It'd be convenient but not sure how suitable.

I saw one on Amazon that had a removable plastic snap cap tube inside that seemed okay but small.
Annnd I can't find the link now that I want to take a second look at it...

A PETling could also be a very useful container. Not as a founding testtube, but only for transport.
