Update 10-6-2017
 
I had one colony left that was still doing okay, but it's dead now after something in the air killed them and a bunch of my ants a few days ago.

This was one of their tubes just before the colony died.

I have seen that's quite common. Loops did that too, only his went all the way through. They all survived though.

Are these worth keeping as feeders? I caught around five or ten pairs of them, not sure if I should keep one, since my friend wants em.

No. It takes a very long time to get a colony large enough to be able to feed any of them to your pets.
