I Dissected a Dead Camponotus Queen

A Camponotus queen died mysteriously, leaving several workers and plenty of brood of all stages.  It weighed 64 mg right before I dissected it.

 

Inside, I found hardened material which I suspect is crystalized sugar from her last meals, and a bunch of fuzzy fungus which had created some hollow sections inside the dead ant.

I think less than 48 hours.  I suspect it was the pathogen that killed her from the inside, as externally she was pristine.

what kind because idk how to take photos from a microscope.

There are a few types you could use. Most microscopes don't have cameras in the lens, like I assume this one has. You'd have to look online.
