While doing some research about my species of ants I have seen people talk about how formic acid can kill the colony in many types of nests. I bought some tubs and tubes for three of my colonies but my only suitable formicarium is an Australia ants Acrylic founding nest. My tetramorium colony already has a setup and they don’t spray formic acid but my other two colonies will go in the tubs and tubes while one will have to go into the acrylic starter kit. The problem is I have read that acrylic is bad for formic acid spraying species because it can kill them so should I save enough money to buy a mini hearth or use the acrylic nest. The types of ants I have are crematogaster and Formica Subsericea and if you need a picture of my colonies or formicarium setups just ask and I’ll provide some.
