How long should it take for my two queens to start laying eggs (captured a day ago) and how many times can I check on them a week? My other question is how long will it take for an egg to become a worker?

Pheidole megacephala isn't in Maryland, but local pheidole take about a month I think but I'm not sure.

We have 5 species of Pheidole but megacephalea isn't one of them.

Did you post an ID thread here for your Queens?

Try holding a flashlight on the ants to illuminate them while you take a picture. this may allow your camera to focus better. Don't crop the pics so much either there's almost enough detail in those pics for us to ID them as an Ant. :)
