How do I legally get rid a a myrmecocystus queen in Northern California, I don’t think colonies are native here.

they are native there and unless you have to move them/kill them for whatever reasons you have to i would let them be

Whether or not she is native would depend on the species. However  native or not she should not be released. Where did you get her?

He means he has them as a captive colony (from what I am understanding).

The best way to get rid of them would be to find someone else to care for them or kill them if you can not care for them.  Releasing isn't the best thing to do

You could become a GAN farmer and sell the colony.

The best thing to do would be to follow what I said in my post above.  There are probably plenty of people who would want to buy it from you.  Make sure they are from CA, though, as interstate movement of ants is considered illegal without proper permits.

I would be willing to take her off your hands, I'm in central California pm me if you’re interested in homing her to an experienced ant keeper.
