Feeding Pogonomyrmex Californicus (bicolor)

So I have my Pogonomyrmex Californicus (bicolor) queen in a test tube with as much space I could give her. I put some seeds in there that I chipped off from a bird feeder with mixed seeds. She laid some eggs, but I’m not 100% sure that she’s eating the seeds in her test tube. Are seeds with a light coating of honey too hard for her?

Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies.

However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:

Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).

Also leave her alone, don't keep checking on her, or she'll eat her eggs.

I have her in a cabinet that I check and I don’t move her around, I just observe. Around six days ago i accidentally bumped her while tending to another queen and she straight up ate the two eggs she just laid.

Yeah Pogonomyrmex are one of those ants that are hell to found.
