Sealing grout formicariums

Working on my first grout formicarium. For anyone who has used grout before, do you seal yours? If so, what do you use?

Why would you seal the back and sides? Ants can't chew through grout.

Why would you seal the back and sides? Ants can't chew through grout.

He most likely means to maintain humidity inside the nest.  You can use most paints as your ants won't be making direct contact to it.
