I've always been fascinated with ants, I can watch them work endlessly. I've never had a true colony with a queen before, as a kid I collected workers on occasion in mason jars with dirt to watch them dig tunnels until they eventually died. Looking forward to keeping a true colony!

Welcome!! I know the feeling!! As a kid I collected citronella ants and kept them in jars. I had no idea until recently you could get Queens and keep a real colony! Just watch out it's an addiction!!

It's only additive once you get into the harder ants. Like Stigmatomma pallipes, Strumigenys, Hypoponera ect. :lol:

Hey I'm from Michigan too. I just started this hobby the beginning of last winter. About where around Michigan are you. I live on the lower peninsula on the east side of Michigan. I love the hobby so far I have 7 colonies and a few hundred Dubia roaches and thousands of mealworms and beetles. If you ever need some feeder insects for protein hit me up. I have more then I will ever need.
