Carebara sp 20mm queen

Plastic container with some dirt

30 - 55 workers, some larvae, eggs and pupae

Well, looks like they will be skipping major and going straight to supermajor! They have one larvae the size of the queen's thorax. at least 5x bigger than the other workers.

Also, they are constantly foraging and accepting food now! They have about 20 pupae waiting to enclose along with new eggs and larva.

Carebara diversa 25mm queen

Critter keeper with soil and buried boiling tube

900 workers, 300+ larvae

Pupae are enclosing  :o

Acanthomyrmex glabfemoralis 7-8mm queen

reservoir-less test tube

(2 queens, 5 eggs)

Yay, eggs

Colobopsis sp 10mm queen

test tube

2 queens, 3 eggs

3 eggs that look like noodles. They have a striped orange and black gaster, like a tiger. Real pretty  :)

Pheidole sp 10mm queen

test tube

1 queen, 20 eggs, 9 larvae

Found a week ago. Already has decent sized larvae.

Pheidole sp2 10mm queen

sand filled jar

4 queens, some brood, 100 workers

Caught these yesterday in a chunk of rotted wood I found. Digging their new nest rn.

Carebara sp (cf affinis) 20mm queen

Plastic container with some dirt

40 - 60 workers, some larvae, eggs and pupae

I'm pretty sure the order goes:

worker, major, super major and super mega major

Not:

worker, super major, super mega major

They have a larvae the size of the queen's gaster and it is still growing. Seems like they decided majors were for losers.

Colobopsis sp 10mm queen

test tube

2 queens, 1 egg, 1 larvae

Finally larvae!

Paratopula bauhinia 10mm queen

test tubes

3 queens

WhY wOn'T yOu laY eGgs GoDdAmMiT

On a side note:

massive crematogaster flights. Haven't caught one yet.

Long time no update XD

Long story short, a bunch of ants died and for a while nothing much happened.

Odontomachus monticola

Test tube, plaster nest and soil

3 queens

My luck today was pretty dang good. Found 2 delalates and a single alate today. All are in different setups. I have high hopes for the two dealates!

Cataglyphis sp

Just a box of sand

1 queen, 5 workers and 3 majors

Bought them of TaoBao along with meranoplus. They are really skittish and always open and close their entrances. Already have a nice ball of eggs and larvae.

Meranoplus bicolor

Dirt setup

1 queen, 30 workers

Calm and fuzzy! Soooo adorable! They've dug a nest under the plants in their terrarium. Not too active, a nice species to keep in a comunal terrarium.

Bunches of polyrachis

Test tubes

3 species and 6 queens in total

Nuptial season for polyrachis. I'm running out of test tubes!!!

Hnggggg

None of them are laying, maybe cos its winter/autumn?

10/09/19

Camponotus turk

Test tube

1 queen, 1 worker

This queen Camponotus is a horrible mother, that is all I'm gonna say.

Odontomachus monticola

test tube

1 queen

One left, and she seems half dead  :(  the other dealate escaped...

Ectatomma ruidum

Big [censored] terrarium

1 queen, 50-70 workers

Made them a new terrarium, pics coming soon.

Anochetus sp

Test tube

The queens built a chamber and have one larvae. Groooooow, larvae, grooooooooooow.

They HAD one worker, then they decapitated her and fed her to the larvae, who then got decapitated and fed to the other larvae.

Ants that died:

Buniapone

2x Odontomachus

Carebara affinis

Wish me luck!
