Patience is needed in all aspects of ant keeping. Just keep at it, and you'll find a queen. Keep a little container in your pocket at all times because it will probably be when you least expect it. Even more patience will be needed getting your queen through the founding stage. If you can make it through that, you will learn some valuable life lessons.

I would bet that the start (or end, possibly) of rainy/monsoon season would kick off a lot of ant activity in most tropical regions. When I was a kid in Honduras, the first rains in May would bring out leaf-cutter queens like you couldn't imagine!

Doesn't Mikey Bustos of AntsCanada fame live in the Philippines? He would know all about this.
