Looks to be a formica sp. I wouldn't assume you got a queen. They will often have satellite nests.

So the ants repeatedly block up the entrance and refuse to come outside. Any idea why this is happening? The temperature in the room is about 70F, so I don't think that's causing it.

They may still be in a hibernation mode. 70 degrees is still kind of cool for ants.

They could also be trying to keep in the humidity of the nest.
