I would like to start an interesting thread for us to share how badly we pronounced some ant genera when we were new to the hobby. I will start:

I used to pronounce myrmecocystus as mur-me-cock-y-stus

Oecophylla= ocy-phy-lia

Pogonomyrmex= paw-go-know-mur-mix

I really sucked at this when I started. How about you guys?

Camponotus quercicola= quiri-cola.

Mrymecocytus= myrm-eco-tus.

Ok, that was when I started ant-keeping.

To be fair, you probably aren't saying it right if you are pronouncing it the same way you're spelling it.

I just got braces around that time, so my mouth was still getting used to it, thus making my pronunciation incorrect.
