Won’t they be more of a successful colony(s) if you didn’t check on them as much?

Not at all. Queens and young colonies are only really scared of vibrations and light because they aren't used to it. My colonies are very used to it, and I believe my largest Camponotus chromaiodes colony even associates them with food.

I might just bring this journal back this summer to document my experiments with Crematogaster lineolata and C. ashmeadi polygyny, so look out for that.

I sold one colony, and the other died sometime in 2020. If I remember correctly, the larger colony had a massive flood coming out of diapause and I didn't catch it in time.
