Hey everyone, a few months ago I started watching the AntsCanada YouTube channel and instantly fell in love with the amazing colonies Mikey has made over the years. I was hooked! So, I figured I'd start from the bottom and order myself 10 test tubes in hopes I will see a few Alates. I know I've seen a few Camponotus, and tetramorium Queens that start to do their fly in the early to mid summer. I'm hoping to start my first colony with a slower growing species, we will see what sort of Alates I'm able to catch around these parts.

I'm a former keeper of Arachnids big and small. My old roster of bugs are as follows.

1 Grammostola rosea or Desert Rose hair
3 Pandinus Imperator or Emperor Scorpions
1 Hottentata Hottentata a beautiful maroon scorpion
14 Paruroctonus boreus which are tiny cold loving scorpions. Can handle freezing temps too!
1 Scolopendra subspinipes or a Tanzainian Blue centipede. Unmatched ferocity with a dazzling blue finish lol.

Also had a tub of Dubia roaches that were thriving.

Unfortunately I grew up and had kids, so I got rid of my collection fearing one of my own brood would get a nasty sting or bite. I'm hoping to get back into the keeping of insects, and show my kids how beautiful the world is even if it's through a macro lens!

Thanks for having me, I'm excited to dig through the posts on here.
