1. Location of Collection: Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia

2. Date of Collection: 10th October 2018 - in eveningnight

3. Habitat - bush

4. Length - 10mm

5. Colour, hue, pattern, texture - orange/brown with slightly darker gaster, covered in hairs of lighter colour 6. Distinguishing features - 2 petiole, spine on thorax pointing backwards, 12 antennal segments, 

 

My main concerns is identifying whether or not this might be a fire ant queen - since these are invasive pests in Australia.

Apahenogaster sp.

 

 might be A.longiceps, but these tend to be around 12-13mm
