The ones from ants Canada are a hard plastic. Not sure how you are breaking your test tubes, but should probably stop! :)

I can totally understand that ant keeping can be very frustrating, and seeing as your 13, I am as well. I understand but you have to learn to be patient or maybe ant keeping isn’t for you.

I would buy packs of 10 or even 100 off of amazon.
