What's up, I'm Sean! I am based in Los Angeles, CA, and am currently employed as a research tech at an ant lab at UCLA. I have cared for Odontomachus trap-jaws in the past and stumbled upon this forum while looking for ideas on how to keep some Pogonomyrmex. I'm excited to check out set-ups and see what I might apply for my experiments!

On that note, I'm trying to design an enclosure that I can point a video camera at and capture digging behavior at the moment. That involves setting up a thin layer of sand topped with a transparent lid.. I have to work out the details of materials and size! If anyone has advice on general Pogonomyrmex care, or creating a set-up like the one I described, reach out, because I'd love to talk!

I'll post pics of the set-ups I devise, and any other cool photos I may get. Looking forward to scoping the forum!

Welcome! I am the research tech at Caltech, and also its resident antkeeper in their entomology lab. We should be helping each other out for sure. What does the antlab at UCLA do? We are studying myrmecophiles.

Did you also know I setup a 3000 + colony of V. pergandei for a kid's science center in Pasadena called Stemworld?
