Just to satisfy my own curiosity, has anyone kept any army ants? Any success? I tried to search, but the most relevant topic I could find was a guy proposing that he was going to try, but no updates afterwards.

Mostly how would one proceed with their "Nomadic" phase?

I as well wish to keep them but if you live in the U.S. they are mainly sybterranean and feast on ant brood. As such keeping them would be near impossible and you always need to have some spare, escape- proof formicariums or nests handy.

Proverbs 6:6-8 New International Version (NIV)

Go to the ant, you sluggard;
    consider its ways and be wise!
It has no commander,
    no overseer or ruler,
yet it stores its provisions in summer
    and gathers its food at harvest.
