Caught this queen last night on the side of my house next to the porch light.

 

I'm thinking maybe Camponotus Discolor, and that's not even really a super educated guess. Not good at Id'ing.

 

1.Collected in  White House, TN

2. 4/19/2017

3. Subdivision house.

4. 10-11mm

5. red with gaster being black

6. looks like only 1.

7. nothing odd

8. N/A

Camponotus are flying? What was the high temperature in your area yesterday?

Yes they are flying. I have caught this one and a C. Subbarbatus already. Temp right now outside is 86f. Both have already laid in test tubes.

Camponotus are flying? What was the high temperature in your area yesterday?

In southern states, we have had many flights. Camponotus chromaodies, Camponotus floridanus, Camponotus pennsylvanicus, and Camponotus americanus have flown in Alabama.
