I managed to find a Temnothorax schaumii queen today walking down the side of my fence. She managed to get to the other side, but thanks to the long reach of my newly renovated aspirator, I was able to catch her in my aspirator. Temnothorax schaumii has always been a target species of mine since I first found a worker a few months ago. I just love their short, stubby legs and their tiny build. They look really quite cute!

Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies.

However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:

Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).
